On May 19, 2021 the WMFC held its Annual General Meeting.  At the end of the meeting Paul Kitchen announced that he would be stepping down as Chair of the Board after two years in this role.  This is what he wrote in the WMFC May Newsletter: “Tonight at the AGM I will be stepping down as Chair of the Board.  I have been Chair for more than two years and have very much enjoyed this role.  As you all know, living with WM takes its toll and I do not at this time have the energy to continue as Chair.  I am remaining on the Board with a very reduced portfolio.”  We all wish to thank Paul for his tremendous support in helping all WMers. Some of the accomplishments the WMFC has made with Paul’s leadership include the development of the new website, increased membership, a more active involvement with the IWMF, a fundraising plan that made us able to participate in various research projects, and a continued focus on our strategic plan goals.  His “Walk 10K a Day in May” for Research Month was a huge success, inspired others, spread the word about WM, and raised over $30K.  We are very fortunate that he will remain a member of the board.

We are happy to announce that after two years on the board Cam Fraser was elected as the new Board Chair.  Cam has been the Calgary Support Group co-Leader for several years.  As a Board member he played a huge role, with the support of a few others, in the development of the new website.  In addition to the work on the website, he has been very involved in updating the WMFC membership list.  If you wish to contact Cam you can reach him at the following email cam.fraser@wmfc.ca.  All the Board members look forward to working with Cam.
