SUMMARY:Eastern Ontario Zoom and In-Person Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Hello Everyone! \nIt was truly a pleasure to get together with about a dozen of you in December  2025 for our Festive gathering at the Ottawa Cancer Foundation’s beautiful facilities. There was an abundance of food and good cheer\, followed by the sharing and caring portion afterwards\, each with our own unique journey yet also having much in common.  Interestingly\, even though Zoom was available\, nobody joined us on line for this particular event. \nI have scheduled the following dates for in person meetings at the Ottawa Cancer Foundation (MapleSoft) in 2026 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm: \nMarch 25\, June 24\, September 30\, as well as December 14th for a combination festive lunch and meeting as we did last month. We will continue to offer the option to join us via Zoom (hybrid) for these\, unless there is a lack of interest. SUMMARY:Exploring the need for an English language Support Group in Quebec
DESCRIPTION:The Quebec French-speaking support group (Groupe de Soutien Francophone) has been thriving for many years under the leadership of Danielle and Paul. They have done a tremendous job supporting and connecting French-speaking WMers across Quebec. \n\nIt has been brought to our attention that there may be a need for a support group specifically for English-speaking WMers in Quebec. If there is sufficient interest\, we would like to explore the possibility of establishing an English-speaking Quebec support group. \n\nTracey Berg and Raffaela Mercurio\, co-leaders of support groups in Manitoba and Saskatchewan and Toronto as well as WMFC Board Members and co-chairs of Membership Services\, work to support and connect support group leaders and WMers across Canada. As individuals living with Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia themselves\, their experiences have inspired them to help others connect\, share\, and feel supported throughout their WM journey. \n\nFor now\, they would take on the role of co-leaders\, with the expectation that\, over time\, a couple of WMers in Quebec will volunteer to help lead the group. DESCRIPTION:For those of you who either live in or will be visiting the greater Ottawa area\, please save the date for our Summer Barbecue and Potluck which will be taking place at Michel and Dale’s house (near the Ottawa General Hospital) on TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 1st (rain date the following day).  People can arrive by 11 am\, the BBQ will start at 1 pm\, and everything should wrap up by around 3pm or so. \nOur hosts will provide the meat and fish for the BBQ\, and everyone else is asked to bring a dish to share\, be it appetizers\, salads\, veggies\, or desserts. \nPlease let me know if you would like to join us\, for planning purposes.  I will provide more details closer to the date. \nDianne Soutif (chuilabas@gmail.com)
